While we may feature a mixture of high and low items from big and small retailers, we find that sharing small women-owned businesses founded in our city has got to be one of our favorites parts of Follow The Find. Beyond some of the local Charlotte artists that we’ve featured in our Artist Spotlight series, we’re also making an effort to share retailers that are born in our area, which leads us to two incredible businesses: Leigh Deux and Laura Park Design!

Here’s a bit of background on each:

Leigh Deux

Focused on maximizing style in small spaces, Leigh Deux is a chic way to design your dorm room or apartment. After Leigh Goodwyn’s daughter had trouble finding stylish bedding for her dorm room, the brilliant business idea was born. Their items include duvet covers, storage options, and the Headboard Pillow, all milled in the Carolinas. The patterns and colorways are fun and whimsical, taking the style and stress out of designing a room that will be an integral part of your life.

Laura Park Design

Laura Park Design launched in 2016 after Park began photographing her abstract designs and creating digital patterns that could be transferred to fabric. Creating pillows from her vibrant and original textiles, Park took her designs to the New York Now market trade show, and five years ago the brand was born. What began as just pillows and fabric, is now bedding, wallpaper, tabletop, paper goods, and more. You can’t go to any home decor in Charlotte without seeing Laura’s beautiful abstract patterns - they really are a citywide staple.
