Follower Favorites: Vacuums

We asked, you answered! What’s the best vacuum cleaner out there that can tackle hardwoods, low pile rugs, and two hair-dropping dogs? We’ve compiled the answers and here are your favorites:

  1. Dyson - This was the leading brand recommendation and included a multitude of their models. Anything from a V8 to the brand-new V11 was suggested and while we realize that these aren’t the cheapest option around, they seem to make vacuuming more regularly a thing. We’ve even heard that husbands get in the mix since they’re cordless and easy to pull out of the closet. Their Animal line within these models is geared toward pet owners, so this peaked our interest. We also liked that some of the newer models had decent battery life because we don’t live in Versailles and don’t need more than 60 minutes of battery life. If allergies are an issue in your home, the newer models actually release cleaner air than what’s currently floating around - which is a huge step up from our old upright vacuum that instantly smells of burnt hair. (Sorry- TMI!)

  2. Shark - This was our second most popular recommendation, and felt like the majority of responses from people who either had a bad experience with Dyson or didn’t want to pay those hefty Dyson prices. Those who recommended Shark also mentioned not getting caught up in the cordless hype and that Shark was more value for the product, as prices are usually lower and many of the features are the same. Based on internet research, it seems Shark is aiming to be Dyson’s primary competitor.

  3. Miele - Responses for this brand focused on the ability to pick up pet hair, but not so much on the cordless or stick vacuum benefits that we heard for the brands above. If you have ample closet storage and don’t mind moving a canister from one room to the other, you can’t go wrong with this brand. It feels the most heavy duty of the popular options and we’ve heard great things from this company’s kitchen appliances. For those pet owners who aren’t afraid of some elbow grease in the name of banishing pet hair, this option is great for you.

Honorable mentions from online reviews include Tineco and MOOSOO, both of which are interesting, but weren’t shared in our reader’s responses.

For our home, we were looking for a great cleaning product to tackle our specific environment, but we also liked the idea of cordless, bagless, and allergy eliminating. We’ve ordered a new vacuum and will share our thoughts when it arrives. For now, we’ll keep it a secret on what we selected, but can’t wait to share some instantly gratifying before-and-after pictures of dog hair on our floors.
