Brynn Swivel Armchair Review
We love browsing World Market and have had our eyes on this Brynn Swivel Armchair for quite some time. The images and description look on point, but some reviews are mixed. This can always make me a little bit nervous, but I typically REALLY read through them to see what people’s issues are. Then, I’ll compare to see if that’s really a concern for me.
I took the chance on these chairs after feeling comfortable with the reviews - basically the few negative items highlighted things that weren’t “new “ information to me, but rather confirmed what I had predicted through the description. For example, fabric is not “the best quality” from one review - which was OK with me- I was not expecting top quality fabric in a $399 swivel chair. BUT, it is Performance Fabric, which was shocking to me for this price point.

Disclaimer: These are going to be used in front of a fireplace in some dead space that is in our master suite. We needed something low profile but still comfortable because we do think we’ll use them. We won’t be using them every day, and they won’t really be used by guests. So, I’d say they will be more “low traffic” for our home. Also, I purchased them during a 30 percent off sale and Free shipping, so I paid less than $700 all in for two.
Here are my big takeaways after receiving the chairs:
Looks: Ultimately, these are going in a sitting area in my master bedroom, so they will be used much less frequently than in a main living space. This made me feel better about a review saying that she refluffed them multiple times per day. The look of these is exactly what I was going for: casual but tailored ivory low profile swivel chairs. I felt very Studio McGee or Amber Interiors when I unwrapped them.
Comfort: My husband and I agree that these are comfortable. Now, they are low profile, so you aren’t going to be able to lean your head back, but that seemed obvious to me by the design. The back is lower than a standard club chair. The height to the floor is about the same as a typical club chair, I think. If anything, these chairs are roomier than I was expecting.
I do think the back cushion could use a little more down fill, which I’m planning to do with some spare down pillows that we have. For now though, I am good with the chairs as is. You can get some on amazon for $30 or so.
Shipping/ Arrival: OK… literally no assembly required. Even the swivel is already on the chair. They come wrapped and protected really well and in a box shaped like a chair. It was borderline humorous to drive up to my porch to see two of these. 5 stars for this.
Appearance: The ivory (what I purchased) looks identical to the photos online. I tried out several different pillows. My favorite “look” to add is a lumbar. This is also available in grey, but most reviewers and pictures online seem to be the ivory.
Swivel: Someone very specifically asked me this, so I’ll address it: the swivel is smooth and spins 360 degrees, there is no “home” position, so these would be great for a true open concept.
Value: Great value for the price. I have no complaints. Certainly there are higher end chairs out there that have a similar look, but I’m not willing to spend more on them at this point and what we are using them for.
A few pillow options and my opinion:
The middle of the road option, comfort wise, is the chairs as the arrive.
Bottom Line:
I am keeping these. They are exactly what I expected and i was pleasantly surprised in a lot of ways, especially on the arrival/ shipping, the color, and the roominess of the chair. They are also husband approved. We’re looking forward to wintertime in front of the fire!
